Florid Cemento-Osseous Dysplasia – A Rare Case with Diverse Radiographic Presentation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Florid cemento osseous dysplasia (FCOD) is a rare, benign lesion affecting both the jaws. It is found more commonly in middle aged black females and also in Caucasians and Asians. It is characterized by substitution of bone with cement-osseous tissue. Generally asymptomatic, FCOD is typically an incidental finding in routine radiographs. Radiographic features depend on the developmental stage of the lesion which may be radiolucent, mixed or radio opaque. Usually presents bilaterally symmetrical in association with the periapical area of the dentition. May present with multiple impacted teeth in the jaw and has a slight familial distribution. Hereby we present a case of FCOD and multiple impacted teeth with a radiographic presentation of all the three stages of formation.

متن کاملCo-Occurence of Florid Cemento-Osseous Dysplasia and Simple Bone Cyst: a Case Report
BACKGROUND The purpose of this report is to present a rare case of co-occurrence of florid cemento-osseous dysplasia with simple bone cyst in a middle aged Asian woman. Most of the reported cases are isolated cases of simple bone cyst or florid cemento-osseous dysplasia, but co-occurrence of these two entities is extremely rare. METHODS The authors report a 41 year old female patient with co-...
متن کاملFamilial florid Cemento‐osseous dysplasia – case report and review of literature
Familial Florid cemento-osseous dysplasia is a very uncommon condition. Cemento-osseous dysplasia is totally asymptomatic in many cases, in those conditions, lesions are detected in a radiograph taken for other purposes. In this report, we describe a family in which mother and daughter exhibited clinical, radiographic, and histologic features of florid cemento-osseous dysplasia.
متن کاملInfected florid osseous dysplasia: clinical and imaging follow-up.
Florid osseous dysplasia (FOD) is a rare fibro-osseous lesion of the jaw usually identified incidentally on radiograph. It rarely presents with clinical symptoms. A case of FOD presenting with features similar to osteomyelitis is discussed here. The diagnosis is based on radiographic findings; biopsy or surgical intervention should be avoided as it may predispose to infection.
متن کاملClinical, radiographic, and histological findings of florid cemento-osseous dysplasia: a case report
Cemento-osseous dysplasias are a group of disorders known to originate from periodontal ligament tissue and involve, essentially, the same pathological process. They are usually classified into three main groups: periapical, florid, and focal cemental dysplasias depending on their extent and radiographic appearances. Radiographically, florid cementoosseous dysplasia (FCOD) appears as dense, lob...
